Wynyard Place development a win for Sydney

Release Date: 1/06/2016
The Sydney Business Chamber says the New South Wales Government’s decision to approve Brookfield’s Wynyard Place proposal is a win for Sydney that will support the revitalisation of the precinct into a vibrant commercial and retail hub.

“Wynyard Place will be a fantastic new addition to the Sydney CBD and will transform the Wynyard precinct into a vibrant, commercial hub and an attractive place to shop, meet and relax in the city centre,” said Patricia Forsythe, Executive Director of the Sydney Business Chamber.

“With a new, world-class commercial and retail precinct and a 27-storey office tower, Wynyard Place complements the NSW Government’s station upgrade and Wynyard Walk development currently underway to improve the amenity of this major transport hub.

“We are particularly pleased to see that the development will enable easy access between Wynyard station and the CBD light rail currently being constructed on George Street, as anything we can do to make it easier to change between modes of transport will encourage more people to leave the car at home and help ease congestion.

“This project will create over 3,000 jobs during the construction phase while the four-level public concourse will attract investment and create jobs to help grow the State’s economy.

“Wynyard is a key transport hub and it is in everyone’s interest to develop it into a world-class, integrated precinct that attracts business and meets the needs of commuters and visitors alike,” Mrs Forsythe said.
