Summer in Sydney is Time to be a Tourist

Release Date: 23/10/2015
The Sydney Business Chamber has labelled the forthcoming events and exhibitions planned for summer in Sydney as a time for Sydneysiders as well as visitors to embrace the feast of options available.
Executive Director of the Sydney Business Chamber, Patricia Forsythe said, “With the dollar down and every major cultural institution planning block-buster events, Sydney looks set to be a great city in which to take a break and experience the stellar line up that will be on show.
“The NSW Art Gallery’s The Greats: Masterpieces from the National Galleries of Scotland opening this weekend is a first time event for Australia with more than 70 outstanding works spanning the Renaissance to Impressionism including Botticelli’s exceptional The Virgin adoring the sleeping Christ child and is one of the most important exhibitions to visit Australia in recent years.
“Complementing this from December as part of the Sydney International Art Series will be Grayson Perry: My Pretty Little Art Career at the MCA and within walking distance of the NSW Gallery the Australian Museum’s interactive exhibition, Trailblazers: Australia’s 50 Greatest Explorers, will open in late November and exploring the journey of 50 adventurers, in a display of over 360 objects.
“The summer program is arguably the strongest for Sydney for many years and includes previously unexhibited works at the Museum of Sydney by Lloyd Rees.
“With every museum holding an exhibition including the on-going exhibition of Collette Dinnigan’s fashion at the Powerhouse Museum and the 40th year of the Sydney Festival opening in early January, Sydney will enhance its reputation as a city with a strong Arts tradition.
“A great tourist city has to refresh its programs and events and the summer of 2015-16 looks set to be a winner for Sydney.
“It is no wonder Sydney was the only Australian city to be voted in the Top 25 Cities in the World Condé Nast Traveler's latest annual Readers' Choice Awards,” Mrs Forsythe said.
