Priorities are Good News for Business in Sydney

Release Date: 14/09/2015
The Sydney Business Chamber has described the Premier’s Priorities released today as significant to the long term sustainability of Sydney’s economy.

Executive Director of the Sydney Business Chamber, Patricia Forsythe said, “The priority given to building infrastructure and creating jobs is already reaping rewards economically for Sydney, with it today the undisputed economic capital of Australia.

“Last month it was revealed that NSW has added over the past six months almost 25 per cent more jobs than the rest of the nation combined, and most of these were in Sydney.

“Sydney’s large infrastructure projects including Barangaroo, WestConnex and Sydney Metro are creating a pipeline of projects that is attracting highly skilled workers who have certainty of employment opportunities into the future.

“Today’s employment climate is very different for Sydney than the years of uncertainty under the former government, when major projects such as the Metro, were announced and then scrapped.

“Government leadership on infrastructure projects, such as the CBDSE light rail, is creating an investment climate that is being taken up by the private sector, with over 20 major building projects underway or in planning for the CBD alone.

“The Premier’s Priorities are clearly allowing Sydney to attract local and international investment on a large scale.

“Sydney is undergoing a transformation of a magnitude that is unprecedented,” said Mrs Forsythe.
