Planning approval paves way for iconic new building

Release Date: 28/06/2016
The Sydney Business Chamber says the NSW Planning Assessment Commission’s approval of the MOD 8 Barangaroo Concept Plan and Crown Sydney Hotel Resort paves the way for an iconic new building to capture the attention of the world.
“Barangaroo is one of the world’s most ambitious waterfront renewal projects and the business community has long recognised that the opportunities afforded by this project for Sydney are second to none,” said Patricia Forsythe, Executive Director of the Sydney Business Chamber.
“We have already seen Barangaroo transform from a wasteland to a precinct that bustles with activity, with visitors enjoying access to this part of the harbour foreshore possibly for the first time. A spectacular building housing a second casino and 350 or so luxury hotel rooms and suites is the final piece of the puzzle.
“As Sydney’s first six-star resort Crown Sydney Hotel Resort has the capacity to attract high net worth tourists who will be attracted by everything the resort represents including its location on the edge of Sydney Harbour in the newest and most prestigious of precincts.
“In a service led economy the future rests with creating new spaces and places that are bold, unique and exciting. Set against our world-famous Sydney harbour, Crown Sydney Hotel Resort will be an iconic building and a symbol of modern Sydney,” Mrs Forsythe said.
