Parramatta Renewal Underway with New Green Space

Release Date: 29/09/2015
The Sydney Business Chamber says the Draft Concept Design for Parramatta Square is a great first step and will bring new energy to the city.
Western Sydney Director of the Sydney Business Chamber, David Borger said, “The central element of the Draft Concept Design, a fountain and watercourse, will make this a viable precinct that will transform the city and create a dynamic, busy urban space.
“Parramatta Square will only work if it is integrated into the community, not sitting as a group of office blocks in the centre of town.
“It's important to get the design of these new civic spaces right. The new Parramatta Square needs to be the most accessible place in the whole CBD.
“Parramatta is on the way to building a strong night time economy. The challenge is creating a public space that people want to spend time in.
This Draft Concept Design goes a long way to addressing the challenges of a big urban city, and is one that is supported by the Chamber.
“We recognise the need for social amenities, restaurants and bars as well as green open space and look forward to working with the Council and Business to help create a thriving city centre.
“This new design for Parramatta Square creates a solid foundation for the city’s business growth and provides an attractive home for Smart jobs in Parramatta,” said Mr Borger.
