New vision to revitalise Sydney Olympic Park precinct

Release Date: 10/10/2016
The Sydney Business Chamber believes the 2030 Master Plan for Sydney Olympic Park, released by the NSW Government, will revitalise the entire precinct.
“Sydney Olympic Park is located in the geographic heart of Sydney and has undergone significant change to its urban character with the dramatic increase in its business, resident and education population,” said Sydney Business Chamber Western Sydney Director David Borger.
“It needs big vision with more housing and jobs to meet the needs of greater Sydney.
“Sydney Olympic Park holds some massive events like the NRL finals and State of Origin, the Royal Easter Show and international conferences. We need to find ways to make the precinct a place to do business and visit outside of the big events.
“The upgrade to ANZ Stadium, previously announced by the Baird Government, will play a central role in reshaping the entire area.
“The Sydney Business Chamber applauds the vision for greater density in the park through increased residential, retail and business developments.
“There’s no doubt the area has been held back by inadequate transport which has restricted access to the park for the millions of visitors it receives.
“A new metro rail and light rail will be essential in addressing these issues.
“Road improvements also need to be made including fixing the worst roundabout in Australia at the intersection of Underwood Road and Australia Avenue.
“The masterplan offers the opportunity to realise the precinct’s potential and capture the value of one of the most productive areas in Western Sydney,” Mr Borger said.
