Knowledge Jobs Continue to Transform Sydney’s West

Release Date: 27/07/2015
The Sydney Business Chamber says the next stage of approval for the Sydney Science Park at Penrith is a welcome step to transforming Western Sydney’s job precinct.

The Western Sydney Director of the Sydney Business Chamber, David Borger said, “The Sydney Science Park is a vital element in the Western Sydney Innovation Corridor, a region dedicated to growth of business and employment in the region.

“Every day, more than 200,000 people travel outside Sydney’s west for work, to address this social problem we need to grow Western Sydney’s knowledge jobs.

“Traditional Western Sydney job creators are in decline, while the medical research and medical technologies sectors are going from strength to strength.

"Parramatta already has a number of smart job precincts, such as the Westmead medical precinct, and the ever growing banking and professional services sector in the Parramatta CBD.

“This investment in Penrith would ensure another of Western Sydney’s CBDs is transformed, creating more job opportunities for our future.

“Investing in innovation and knowledge precincts makes sense, the Sydney Science Park will create a hub of industry, education, and business bolstering the long term future of Western Sydney,” said Mr Borger.
