Global Infrastructure Hub Embraced by Sydney

Release Date: 17/11/2014
The Sydney Business Chamber has welcomed the decision of the G20 Leaders to establish a Global Infrastructure Hub in Sydney with the aim of increasing collaboration between governments, international organisations and the private sector, as the demand for global infrastructure investment increases over the next decade.

Patricia Forsythe, Executive Director of the Sydney Business Chamber said, “This is an important win for Sydney as the decision will position Sydney as a strategic global city in the development of the international market for infrastructure investment.

“The G20 has recognised that a key to growing investment is reducing barriers and matching projects with investors.

“The Hub is testament to the expertise that Sydney is developing as an ‘infrastructure’ city and the G20 announcement will take Sydney and its business services companies to a new level in terms of international engagement.

“The $2 trillion injection in global infrastructure capacity, identified by the B20 as possible through the establishment of the Hub, demonstrates the importance placed on infrastructure investment across the world.

“Having the Hub on our doorstep will place Sydney in a strong position to ensure it is a significant participant in the global investment community,” said Mrs Forsythe.
