David Jones - a great addition to Barangaroo

Release Date: 3/11/2016
The Sydney Business Chamber has welcomed the opening of a new David Jones store at Barangaroo South as another indication that the vision for Barangaroo as a key economic hub in Sydney’s CBD is coming to fruition.

Executive Director of the Sydney Business Chamber Patricia Forsythe said, “The boutique store will bring a new status to the emerging commercial and retail precinct and is an important addition in the heart of the Barangaroo South development which is already home to more than 11,000 workers each day.”

“Opening its doors for the first time this morning, the 1400-square metre store at Exchange Place, Barangaroo, adjacent to Tower 3 is easily accessible from Wynyard Station, thanks to the recently completed Wynyard Walk.”

“David Jones will be among 80 new restaurants, cafes and bars and health and lifestyle retailers, encouraging business and tourists to the precinct.”

Lendlease last year announced its partnership with David Jones to open the signature boutique store within the precinct.

The redevelopment of Barangaroo South has created a new 7.7 hectare, mixed use urban precinct and is emerging as the key financial and business services hub in Sydney.

“Attracting retailers such as David Jones as well as major banks and business service firms is an indication of the potential of the whole Barangaroo precinct which, on completion, expects to attract over 30,000 users each day including residents, workers and tourists.

“This exciting new place will bring together commercial, residential, retail and community spaces,” Mrs Forsythe said.

Construction of Barangaroo South has resulted in more than 3,000 jobs this year alone.
