Another Milestone Reached for the Western Sydney Airport

Release Date: 26/08/2015
The Sydney Business Chamber, the leading advocate for the Western Sydney Airport says the official naming of Badgerys Creek as the site for Western Sydney’s first international airport, is good news for the region.

The Western Sydney Director of the Sydney Business Chamber, David Borger said, “This is another important step toward the delivery of the Airport.

“Western Sydney needs more jobs and this Airport is the best chance we have for creating a long term solution.

“We look forward to working with the Federal Government to help deliver thousands of jobs and a promised $24 billion to the Western Sydney economy,” said Mr Borger.

However, Mr Borger once again repeated the Sydney Business Chamber’s calls to establish an independent authority to oversee and manage the airport’s planning and delivery.

“The authority should facilitate integrated planning between the State and Federal Government; it should also be responsible for business and community consultation.

“If this Airport is to be up and running in ten years, proper planning and coordination between all parties, including the business community, is essential.

“The Chamber wants to work with Government to maximise every opportunity for the business and the community to create a long term jobs engine,” said Mr Borger.
