An important step towards Badgerys Creek Airport

Release Date: 18/08/2014
The Western Sydney Director of the Sydney Business Chamber, David Borger, said the Federal Government’s issue of a Notice to Consult to Sydney Airport Group shows the Government is getting on with the job of delivering Sydney’s second airport.

“By issuing this Notice to Sydney Airport, the Government has taken a significant step towards building an airport for Western Sydney and has demonstrated its commitment to deliver the airport within a decade.

“We know the Government has been working hard behind the scenes since the announcement earlier this year that an airport will be built at Badgerys Creek, and together with this formal notice, the Government can finalise the next steps for delivering the airport.

However, Mr Borger restated the Sydney Business Chamber’s calls to establish an independent authority to oversee and manage the airport’s planning and delivery.

“An independent authority will promote integrated land use planning for the airport and surrounding land, while also providing an important contact point for community consultation,” Mr Borger said.
