Chamber welcomes $266m funding for Muswellbrook Bypass

Release Date: 21/02/2019
The Hunter Business Chamber has welcomed the announcement by Deputy Premier John Barilaro that the Coalition will commit $266 million to building the Muswellbrook Bypass if re-elected.

Mr Barilaro has forecast a start date of 2022 for the project, after committing a future Coalition government to fast-tracking the project without federal government support.

“The community has been in limbo over this much-needed infrastructure for a long time,” Hunter Business Chamber CEO Bob Hawes said.

“News of a possible start on construction by 2022 will bring certainty to the town that will boost business confidence and economic growth.

“The Muswellbrook Bypass is identified as a regional priority in the Hunter Business Chamber’s NSW election advocacy platform.

“We applaud the Coalition’s announcement and call on Labor to match this commitment.”

The Hunter Business Chamber called for progress on the stalled Muswellbrook and Singleton bypasses in its regional election advocacy platform, released last week.
